Taking a quick break from my Internet Marketing series I wanted to quickly discuss the advantage of using Twitter as an advertising tool. Twitter is not only a great tool for customer service , but a good place to advertise the products and services one has to offer.
It is important to remember that the more people following you on Twitter, the more potential customers you have. To capture and keep twitter followers one must continue to post tweets that are original. This does take some planning and should be looked at from a strategic point of view. Do not tweet about the same things over and over again. You want to have some unpredictability to what you are writing. It is also helpful to interact with your followers. Now and then retweet what someone has written on their page, as well as use the @ function to engage in conversation.
Another idea is to follow those who are like minded on Twitter. If you are selling Blackberry applications, for example, finding people who tweet about their Blackberry's would be a great starting point. This is can easily been done by using the search box on your Twitter homepage. In this example just type in the word Blackberry and you will see the people all over the world who are tweeting about it. These would be the perfect people to start following, and with actual dialogue they can be following you soon.
The Power of Retweeting
Twitter is different from other social network sites, like Facebook and Myspace, because much of the information shared between members is done on external sites. These sites help to make Twitter a full interactive experience.
www.repyoursound.com is a site that really utilizes the functions of Twitter to advertise. Originally a site that helped promote music, it is now allowing individuals, businesses, and startups the best opportunity to have their ideas promoted to the masses quickly.
The site works by having people retweet the status updates of your choice. In other words, a small business writes a micro blog that includes their web address and some choice words that explain their product/service. Repyoursound then pays others to retweet that same status update so all the twitter followers they have see the same message.
The site makes it very easy by letting new clients just sign in by using their current Twitter account information. The client then types in the message they want others to retweet for them. Finally an affordable budget is set by using a daily expense output. More information on the service can be found at http://repyoursound.com/how
Remember Real People are Twittering
To conduct a Twitter advertising campaign that drives customers to your website, it simply starts with what you decide to tweet about. People take seriously who they select to follow on twitter. They want to feel like there is a real person behind the micro blogging, even if it is a company or organization. By remembering to interact with your followers this can be accomplished.
